Gerry Marchand - Secretary & Webmaster

Gerry is a science teacher at Huntley High School and adjunct professor at Elgin Community College. He has been teaching in the NW suburbs of Chicago since 2006. Gerry has completed his B.S. at Northern Illinois University and two Master’s degrees: M.A. from St. Xavier University (Chicago) and M.S. from Northern Illinois University (DeKalb). Gerry was a pioneer at HHS in the first Blended Learning program in Illinois in 2011 and was also the first at HHS to implement the Flipped Classroom Model, creating over 100 videos to enhance student learning. His current endeavor of mastery-based learning has escalated the flipped and blended learning model.

 

Gerry has presented numerous times on his experience with Blended Mastery Learning at Huntley High School. In 2013, Gerry was a runner-up in a nationwide website content hosted by PowerSchool Learning (formerly Haiku LMS). In March, 2019, Gerry was awarded Teacher of the Year honors at Huntley Community School District 158.
