Shannon Schroeder teaches eighth grade Language Arts at Homer Jr. High in Homer Glen. She is passionate about teaching with craftsmanship, meaningful technology integration, and candy! As a technology leader and veteran teacher of 14 years, she first discovered the joy of technology in the classroom when serving as the District 33C Chromebook pilot in 2013. Shannon has continued to explore technology integration and share her learning through leading workshops and experimenting with new tools and techniques in class. “Share Fearlessly” is a motto that has guided her professional growth. In March of 2017 Shannon received Illinois Computing Educator’s Teacher of the Year Award. Most recently, Shannon earned her Google for Education Certified Trainer and is a Level 2 Google for Education Certified Teacher; she participated in EdTech Team's Teacher Leader Cohort and presented at Google for Education Summits, District 33C, ICE, Taste of Tech, and NICE. She is a Recap Pioneer. When she’s not driving the carpool for her three kids, you can find her reading (most likely To Kill a Mockingbird or students’ papers), golfing, knitting, on the computer, or enjoying time with her husband, friends, and family. Shannon holds a B.A. in English Composition and Secondary Education from DePauw University and an M.S. in Secondary Education from Indiana University.
